PURPOSE:To provide an ultrasonic endoscope having the capability of distinguish ing an ultrasonic tomographic image of a front view from an ultrasonic tomographic view of a side view through the application of simple constitution. CONSTITUTION:The forward end of an ultrasonic probe 10 is rotated, thereby radially irradiating an ultrasonic wave beam from a ultrasonic wave generation section 26. An ultrasonic wave reflecting section 30 is fitted with a reflecting slope 27 forming an angle of 45 degrees with a plane vertical to the insertion shaft of an inserting section. A part of the ultrasonic wave beam radially irradiated from the section 26 is reflected on the slope 27, thereby irradiating the beam forward of an end section 4. Also, the section 30 is fitted with a reflective section cover 35 having a recognition section 38 with a reflection factor different from the factor of the slope 27, at a position corresponding to the boundary of the slope 27. |
