PURPOSE:To provide a composition markedly improved in seizure resistance, oxidation stability, especially frictional properties, does not increase in the frictional coefficient even when used for a long time as compared with an LSD gear oil using a conventional sulfur/phosphorus extreme-pressure agent and can allow an LSD gear to show stably its performance for a long time. CONSTITUTION:The composition is prepared by mixing a base oil comprising a mineral oil and/or a synthetic oil with 1-10wt.% sulfur/phosphorus extreme- pressure agent (A), 1-15wt.% alkali metal borate hydrate (B), 0.5-10wt.% at least one member (C) selected from among 8-30 C aliphatic saturated and unsaturated carboxylic acids, aromatic carboxylic acids, esters thereof and a reaction product of these acids with an organic amine. Components A to C can improve the gear performance (extreme-pressure properties), heat resistance and oxidation stability, and therefore can improve seizure resistance, abrasion resistance and frictional coefficient. |
