PURPOSE:To provide a thermal transfer ink ribbon with thin substrate and ink, layer in thickness. CONSTITUTION:A thermal transfer ink ribbon obtained by applying 1.5-2.5g/m<2> of hot melt ink on one surface of a film, which is made of a polyester resin having an average molecular weight of 12X10<3>-30X10<3> to have a thickness of 1.5-3.0mum and a heat shrinkage coefficient not more than 3% longitudinally and not more than 2% crosswise.
