MULTILAYER MATERIAL AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE: To obtain a multilayered material consisting of a surface layer made of a nonwoven web and a paper layer by mutually bonding the surface layer and the paper layer by underwater ultrasonic adhesion. CONSTITUTION: A nonwoven web 13 and a paper layer 15 are carried to the first nip 16 formed between a first feed roller 18 and a first nip roller 20 by an endless feed mechanism, that is, a feed belt 22 moved in the direction shown by an arrow 24. The feed belt 22 is driven by the first feed roller 18 and a second feed roller 26 rotated by a usual power source. The web 13 and the layer 15 goes over a tension roll 36 from the first nip 16 to be carried to an area 38 by the feed belt 12 to receive ultrasonic vibration in the area 38. An apparatus 40 applying ultrasonic vibration to the web 13 and the layer 15 is a usual ultrasonic vibrator. The web 13 and the layer 15 are mutually bonded by underwater ultrasonic adhesion.
