PURPOSE: To provide a video signal encoding device to use adaptive one- dimensional(1D)/two-dimensional(2D) DCT for improving encoding efficiency in encoding of video signal. CONSTITUTION: This video signal encoding device is provided for transmitting a digital video signal while compressing it and equipped with a 1st means composed of 106, 108 and 110 while using the 1D horizontal correlativeness of digital video signal so as to compress the digital video signal, 2nd means composed of 116, 118 and 120 while using the 1D vertical correlativeness of digital video signal so as to compress the digital video signal, 3rd means composed of 128 and 130 while using the horizontal and vertical correlativeness of digital video signal so as to compress the digital video signal, and comparator 114 respectively connected to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd means for comparing compression errors generated from the respective means at the time of compression encoding so as to select the compressed signal from the means to generate the least compression error. |
