The brake/clutch device is designed for lawnmowers, where the cutting blades are driven directly form the output shaft of the motor. The device consists of a primary half-pulley (3), mounted directly onto the output shaft of the motor, a second half-pulley (5), arranged to occupy a position adjacent to the primary pulley, such that the outer periphery of the two pulleys forms a conventional pulley profile.The second pulley is mounted so as to rotate freely around an axis (y-y'), the same axis as that of the output shaft of the motor. The second pulley is also rigidly connected to the cutting blades. A tension roller (17) carries the belt (10) and by the application of tension to the belt, transmits drive to the cutting blades.
