Multi-fibre assembly for illumination in optical distributor

The ellipsoid (10) is made up of two equal sections. The first section holds a light source (10) at its focus. Radiated light is focussed onto the multi-fibre collector (4) by a lens (18). A coated glass reflecting window (20) can also be used to reflect infra-red light.Behind the collector are a bundle of optical fibres (1) through which light is distributed. Reflection of the light to the focus increases the efficiency of collection of the light.
