PURPOSE:To improve high-rate discharge characteristics, and increase a charge/ discharge cycle life by mixing mother grains of nickel hydroxide with fine powder material of child grains comprising one sort of a group comprising metal oxide and carbon. CONSTITUTION:For positive electrode active material, nickel hydroxide powders as mother grains are selected, and nickel powders as child grains are coated on the surface of the powders by mechano-chemical reaction by a compression grinding type crusher. In this case, an arm is installed on a fixed shaft 2 disposed at a center part of a reaction case 1 of the rotary crusher, and a gap between a grinding member 3 fixed at a forward end of the arm and an inner wall of the case 1 is set at 3mm, with a rotation speed of the case 1 set at 1500/min. A scraper member 4 is disposed before the grinding member 3, so a layer of crushed sample 5 compacted by the rotating case 1 and the grinding member and attached on the inner wall of the case 1 is scraped. Nickel hydroxide obtained in this process is coated with fine nickel on the surface, thereby a high conductivity is achieved. |
