PURPOSE:To provide a handwritten character/graphic recognizing system which can satisfactorily recognize the handwritten characters and graphics even when no rectangular area is shown on an input screen. CONSTITUTION:A handwritten character/graphic recognizing system includes an input means 3 which reads handwriting input stroke information, a recognizing means 7 which secures the matching with a dictionary based on the feature value of the input stroke information and recognizes the characters and graphics, and a display means 2 which shows the input stroke information and the recognizing results. The means 7 performs the matching for each input of the input stroke information and then repeats the matching with the next input stroke information if no matching is secured with the first input stroke information. As a result, the handwritten characters and graphics are satisfactorily recognized with higher operability even when no rectangular area is shown on an input screen. |
