PURPOSE:To provide a secondary battery, which has long cycle life and high energy density by taking respective advantages of an electric double-layer capacitor having an electrode of a large surface area and a secondary battery having large electric discharging capacity. CONSTITUTION:A positive electrode chamber having a porous electrode and a negative electrode chamber are provided through a diaphragm, and an active material is impregnated or channeled in the porous electrode. A conductive carbon material of no less than 300m<2>/g in surface area as measured by BET ratio surface area measurement method, is used as the porous electrode in this secondary battery. Input/output density is increased in short period of time, and the capture factor as well as the utilization factor of the active material are improved, and the energy density is increased. Possibility of short-circuit due to electrolysis is reduced, and the electric charging/discharging cycle life is improved. A secondary battery for large power storage can thus be provided, and higher voltage can be further, easily achieved by layer formation. |
