PURPOSE:To restrict self-discharge extremely, and improve storage characteristics by eliminating silver nitrate as impurities completely in manufacturing sintered type cadmium negative electrode plates for alkali storage batteries. CONSTITUTION:(1) A nickel porous body is subjected to heat treatment in oxygen or oxygen-mixed atmosphere at 120-250 C to form oxide film on a surface. (2) Solution mainly comprising cadmium nitrate is impregnated in the nickel porous body, it is neutralized in alkaline solution, and it is cleaned and dried to be an electrode plate. (3) The electrode plate is heat-treated at 250-350 deg.C to convert cadmium hydroxide into cadmium oxide, and the cadmium oxide is reconverted to cadmium hydroxide. |
