INFORMATION RECORDING MEDIUM, ITS PRODUCTION, AND METHOD FOR USING INFORMATION RECORDING MEDIUM

PURPOSE:To obtain an information recording medium in which recording is done by selective opening the rings of constitutional molecules of the medium or by capturing metal ions in the ring-opening part. CONSTITUTION:In a chemical adsorption film having a dicyclopentadiene skeleton, recording is performed by selectively opening the rings with heat or light or by capturing metal ions after the rings are opened so at to form a metallocene skeleton or a metallocene-like skeleton. Reading of information is performed by distinguishing the difference of skeletons or metal atoms. The chemical adsorption film is made as a monomolecular film 15 so that the information recording layer can be formed to such thickness of an angstrom order.
