PURPOSE:To stabilize the flexing vibration of a vibrator in an exciting direction sufficiently to cope with changes in ambient temperature. CONSTITUTION:Slots 15a, 15b, each extending substantially the overall length of a vibrator 11, are formed on the two sides 11a, 11b of the vibrator 11 which are symmetrical with respect to a perpendicular 14 drawn from an apex 11c located at equal distances from the two sides 11a, 11b to opposite sides 11d within the cross section of the vibrator 11 which takes the form of an odd- numbered polygon, and in the piezoelectric element installation area 16 of the vibrator 1 a notched portion 17 is provided on a ridge line 11e passing the apex (c) or at the apex 11c and on the opposite side walls 11d so that the resonance frequencies of the flexing vibrations of the vibrator 3 in an exciting direction and in the direction perpendicular thereto in a primary vibration mode are the same or approximate each other, and that the resonance frequencies are isolated from each other in odd-numbered modes of three and more. |
