PURPOSE:To provide a character output device can perform a high-speed processing and is greatly simplified in memory control over a font cache. CONSTITUTION:Font data for which a computer 7 is to output are prescanned by a prescanning means 11. Consequently, an intermediate file from which the use frequencies, drawing positions of respective fonts can be found is generated. Through the operation of a control part 13, whether or not data outputted successively from the computer 7 are a font to be reused is inspected. Once it is judged that the data are the font to be reused, image data expanded by an image expanding means 2 are registered in the font cache 4. When it is judged that the data are not the font to be reused, on the other hand, the image data expanded by the image expanding means 2 are not registered in the font cache 4. Consequently, the frequency of the full state of the font cache can be decreased and the memory control over the font cache is greatly simplified. |
