IMAGE GENERATING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To provide an image generating device which applies a light beam tracking method to generate an image at a high speed. CONSTITUTION:The light beam tracking trees of four nearby picture elements whose value are previously calculated are compared with each other through a checking part 108 which checks the coincidence among the intersecting objects of those quad tracking tree. Then an intersecting object coincident part detecting part 110 detects the root through a discordant part of each tracking trees even when no entire coincidence is secured among those intersecting objects of quad tracking tree. Furthermore a discordant area group separating part 111 checks whether the discordant parts are divided into two groups or not. Then the searching of the intersecting objects is omitted for the coincident parts when the light beam is tracked by an adaptive high speed light beam tracking part 105. Thereafter a light beam tracking operation is carried out for an intersecting object when the discordant parts are divided into two groups. Then it is decided whether the searching is omitted or not for the subsequent intersecting objects based on the light beam tracking result.
