PURPOSE: To obtain a compsn. which is suitable to prepare a printing plate and can be developed with a water-based medium, to provide a printing plate containing this compsn., and to provide a method to form an image on the printing plate. CONSTITUTION: This compsn. contains (a) a polymerizable material and (b) a hydrophobic compd. which contains elements selected from fluorine, chlorine and silicon and is copolymerizable with the polymerizable material. The compsn. can be developed with a water-based medium and can be hardened. A printing plate prepared from this compsn. which can be developed with a water-based medium has a larger contact angle by about 5% than the contact angle of a printing plate produced from the same compsn. containing no hydrophobic compd. The compsn. can be used for a printing plate having a base body and this compsn. The obtd. printing plate is exposed for an image and developed to remove an unhardened compsn. Further, the image forming method includes a process to expose the printing plate for an image, a process to develop the plate and a process to harden the plate. |
