USER INTERFACE FOR DEFINITION OF STRUCTURE OF RELATIONAL DATABASE AND METHOD FOR GENERATION OF SAID USER INTERFACE ONDISPLAY OF COMPUTER SYSTEM

PURPOSE: To provide a user interface regarding a relational data base for giving adequate information to an unsubstantially experienced user to understand and generate indexes regarding keys of one or plural tables containing key constitution requiring reference security. CONSTITUTION: The user interface is constituted which is used to generate and alter the structure of the relational data base having the tables that are connected with keys and composed of the indexes. One form is so constituted that a matrix defining the structure of a table on a video display 1 and one or plural matrixes defining the connection relation between tables relating to a column selected out of the matrix can be displayed in parallel. Selection and movement are performed through the data structure with a cursor moved by a mouse 4. The reference security between the data base tables is maintained by the use of a basic key and an external key. The relation between the keys to the columns of the tables and the indexes is represented distinctively in a matrix form window appearing in parallel to table column characteristic information.
