To form a composite material, a semi-liquid insert (29) is carried (5) between the fabrics (A), into the spaces along their facing longitudinal lines. Appts. used has two fabrics (2,4) held apart and parallel to each other, a mechanical separator (22) and units (10,12,18) to bond them together on a longitudinal line. A system (19,26) feeds a semi-liq. (29) insert material between them, to be carried (5) through by a movement drive and/or guide (25,26) as far as the longitudinal spaces. The insert material (29), while semi-liquid, is pref. fed into the longitudinal channels (26) by a carrier (5) so that, on leaving the blades (22), is inserted into the longitudinal gaps between the fabrics (A) and their facing lines. The carrier (5) is moved to carry the insert material (29) for integration into the composite material.
