ABNORMAL PACKET PROCESSING SYSTEM

PURPOSE:To eliminate a need of processing of abnormal packets on the reception side by adding abnormality report information or suppressing transmission at the time of detecting abnormality of a data packet being in course of transmission. CONSTITUTION:A main storage access control part 50 accesses a main storage 40 by a command from a network transfer control part 52 and controls data transfer between the main storage 40 and a data buffer 51. The buffer 51 is used to temporarily store data at the time of data transfer between the main storage and a network 32 and at the time of read/write of data on the main storage 40 in a transfer processing part 42 and the control part 50. if abnormality occurs in the middle of transfer of control information, an abnormality detecting circuit 43 detects this abnormality and reports it to a control part 52. A transmission abnormality information adding device 55 in the control part 52 adds abnormality information to the data packet or suppresses the transmission. Thus, processing of abnormal packets is unnecessary on the reception side.
