REFERENCE SYSTEM OF PLURALITY OF FILE NAMES

PURPOSE: To provide a method for directly referring to a target file without using any special means even when plural file names which are different in format are used. CONSTITUTION: There is an application 100 in a computer 102 and the multiple- file-name reference system 106 is provided for system execution. This system 106 is provided for the file system 108 of an operating system 110, and generates a file name having different format from a newly provided file name as a file is generated by the application or operating system or the file name is changed and also functions as a storage means for storing another entry in a B tree in a storage mechanism such as a disk 104 for the said file name. Further, this functions as a converting means for converting a file name having one format into a corresponding file name having a different format.
