PURPOSE:To obtain the optical ATM channel with simple structure by inputting a wavelength multiplex signal to an input highway to increase an exchange capacity and executing wavelength switching definitely through the control of a time switch. CONSTITUTION:Time switches 321, 322 receive a partial cell in which a 1st intermediate signal received through highways 391, 392 is wavelength multiplexed and gives routing information to an exchange control section 382. The control section 382 controls the time switches 321, 322 and an optical switch matrix 341 so as to prevent collision of cells and switches the matrix 341 simultaneously. The matrix 341 changes the channel for cells of 2nd intermediate signals 41, 42 based on header information and gives them to highways 351, 352 as 3rd intermediate signals 51, 52. Then demultiplexer sections 361, 362 allow the time switches 321 322 to output cells in the order corresponding to the wavelength to be allocated to apply wavelength switching when the cell is subject to wavelength multiplexing. |
