PURPOSE:To provide reliable azimuth by correcting a theoretically calculated variation of azimuth. CONSTITUTION:The difference between geomagnetic azimuth and reference geomagnetic azimuth StdMAG and the difference between wheel azimuth and reference wheel azimuth StdWHL are calculated every predetermined time while a vehicle is turning, and their sums MAG and WHL are calculated (240, 250). Since a criterion obtained by subtracting the sum MAG of geomagnetic azimuth from the difference between both of the sums MAG, WHL corresponds to the difference between the wheel azimuth and the geomagnetic azimuth, a correction factor C for correcting relative variations in azimuth, obtained by theoretical calculation on the basis of the periodic ratio of a rotation sensor according to the criterion, is renewed and set (280-300), thereby to compensate for the difference between theoretical azimuth and actual azimuth so as to obtain accurate azimuth. |
