PURPOSE: To obtain a photographic element containing a new releasing compd. which rapidly releases photographic useful groups by incorporating a specified timing group. CONSTITUTION: This photographic element consists of a base body and a silver halide emulsion layer on the base body. The emulsion layer contains a combination of an image dye production coupler and a releasing compd. which contains a carrier group, a timing group and a photographic useful group. The timing group TIME is expressed by the formula. In the formula, Nu is a nucleophilic group, E is an electron withdrawing group having one or more carboaromatic rings or heteroaromatic rings which have electron-deficient carbon atoms, LINK is a connecting group which adds 1 to 5 atoms to the direct path between the nucleophilic part of Nu and the electron-deficient carbon atom of E, and (p) is 0 or 1. The photographic useful group is connected directly through another timing group to the electron-deficient carbon atom of E. The nucleophilic group is connected directly or through a timing group to the position of the carrier group where the nucleophilic group itself is released in photographic process.
