The invention relates to a method for the production of distance images using the principle of transmission of a light signal and time-delayed reception of the reflected light signal by a receiving device (recording reflected images), at least two reflected images of the same range area being recorded and the emitted light signal being intensity-modulated at a modulation frequency, and the sensitivity of the receiving device being modulated at the same modulation frequency, and in a phase-locked manner with respect thereto, on receiving at least one of the two reflected images, and the reflection level and distance of the objects being determined subsequently by comparison of the brightness levels in the first and second reflected images.
