In a new procedure for recovering and utilising bone material in dental implantology, bone material is recovered during surgical or implantological treatment in the oral region and is used as a replacement for bone in the region of the jaw.Also claimed is a device for recovering bone material, consisting of a dental suction cannula (1) connected by a hose (4) to a vacuum pump (5). A bone material separator (6) is provided between the suction opening (2) and the cannula body.The recovered material is pref used for replacing bone deficiencies arising during the insertion of dental implants. The bone material separator is pref part of an inert section (7) removably connected to the cannula, and is located at the junction between this insert and the cannula. The bone material separator is in the form of a sieve or filter, and may consist of a fibrous or sintered material.
