An arrangement for cleaning sooty exhaust fumes, in particular exhaust fumes from Diesel engines, has a housing (1) with one closed front face and a centrally arranged, axial exhaust fume feeding channel (3) formed by a sieve-like perfored envelope (2) surrounded by a ring-shaped space for receiving catalyst material which is also delimited by a perforated envelope (4). At least two ring-shaped spaces (10, 11) which surround the exhaust fume feeding channel (3) are formed in the housing (1) with stable metallic grids (2, 4, 5) as their envelopes. The outer ring-shaped space (10) receives the catalyst material and a heating fabric is concentrically arranged in the inner ring-shaped space (11). Several concentric ring-shaped spaces are provided, of which at least the outermost and the innermost receive the catalyst material, whereas the heating fabric is arranged in one of the intermediate ring-shaped spaces. The stable metallic grids (2, 4, 5) are made of electrically magnetisable material. The heating fabric (12) is held on an array of supports (13) made of insulating, preferably ceramic material, supported on the stable metallic grid (7). The catalyst material is made of a mass of granulated, for example pelletised, material. |
