POWER-SHIFTABLE, MULTIPLE GEAR REVERSING GEAR BOX

A power-shiftable, multiple gear reversing gear box (1) of the layshaft type is disclosed, such as those used in particular in construction machinery. In order to attain a high number of light parts and to keep low the noise level, a single clutch (21 to 24) is arranged on each layshaft (17 to 20). The idlers (25 to 28) associated to the clutches (21 to 24) form a driving gear chain (29). The disclosed solution is characterised in particular by a small axial length of the layshafts, so that helical gears with a wide helix angle may be used.
