The lubricant discharge pipe (8) extending from the object (7) being lubricated to a drain (9) contains a retention plate (10). The lubricant supply pipe (5) extending from the mixer (1) to the object contains a detector (11) for detecting any change in the air pressure in the supply pipe.The detector senses a pressure drop in the supply pipe as a result of a blockage or break in the supply pipe or as a result of any abnormality in the object being lubricated so that it is determined whether the oil/air mixture is being supplied correctly from the mixer to the object. The lubricant discharge pipe can also have a detector for detecting a change in the air pressure in the pipe.
