Explosive-charge-tamping method in borehole

A tamping column (6) is inserted in the borehole (3) between the mouth of the latter and the explosive charge (5). The column is of gelatine-forming material swelling when water is added to it and is inserted before or after the charge. It can be inserted in the dry state, the hole being then filled with water.
