A process to control the stitch combination of at least two flexible pieces of textile material comprises: (a) laying the material on a table; (b) laying one on top of the other, or with a separator; (c) arranging sensors at end and in direction of motion of the material; (d) comparing sensor signal differential and reference to a standard; (e) regulating the material advance mechanism from the result of the detection and comparison; (f) working the machine accordingly; (g) allowing sensors to advance in conjunction with the machine; and (h) regulating at each stitch movement, or with a number of stitches for the cloth advance mechanism, relative to detection at the sensors, so that top or bottom material advances more, less, or in step.The appts. is also claimed.
