To provide a compound which strongly and persistently shows a depressor activity and a urination disorder-relieving activity by blocking the .alpha.1-adrenergic receptor. Constitution: An N-substituted indole derivative represented by the following formula: <IMG> wherein R1 represents an alkyl group, or a phenyl group which may be substituted by a halogen atom, an alkyl group or an alkoxy group; R2 represents a phenyl group which may be substituted by one or two substituents selected from a halogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group and 1-piperidyl group, or a 2-pyridyl group which may be substituted by one or two substituents selected from a halogen atom, an alkyl group and an alkoxy group; and n is an integer of from 2 to 5; and an acid addition salt thereof.
