A centrifugal planetary friction transmission comprises a plurality of flat friction pulleys. External friction pulleys (7, 8, 7', 8') move like planets and have friction contact with a respective internal friction pulley (9,12) under the action of centrifugal force. The transmission operates evenly has protective property against overload and can absorb shock. The prime mover can start up smoothly with heavy load. In the range of high-speed drive the transmission power and output torgue may be increased by 10-fold even move as compared with the gear drive.
