PURPOSE: To obtain a thermal ink jet print head for remarkably shortening the warm-up time in association with melting of solid ink by rapidly driving a heat supply means according to an electric signal. CONSTITUTION: The print head comprises housing 22, a solid ink supply source 24, a molten ink layer 26, and a small droplet injecting assembly 28 having a thin film-like solid ink supply heater 38. The source 24 is disposed at an upper part of the assembly 28. The ink to be used is, for example, of a wax type to be molten at ambient temperature or higher such as a stearic acid or the like. The hater 38 rapidly supplies a heat distributed at a bottom of the source 24. The ink approaching the bottom of the source 24 is molten to form a molten ink 26 layer. |
