PURPOSE:To provide an ink jet recording apparatus used in the recording on a large fabric and efficiently cooling a recording head even when a large number of recording heads are laminated in a multistage fashion. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of recording heads 201 are held to a head holder 202 and cooling fans 232 are provided at every recording heads 201 so as to be arranged in a zigzag lattice state and a cooling fan 232 is attached to the openable and closable upper lid 230 of the head holder 201. The air stream is sent to the respective recording heads 201 from the cooling fan 232 through a duct 233.
