PURPOSE:To obtain uniform and excellent quality of welding by making the major axis direction of laser beam with which a work is irradiated to coincide with the welding direction in spite of the major axis direction of a section shape of the laser beam in an outgoing outlet of a laser beam oscillator. CONSTITUTION:A direction changing unit 11 is provided so as to be attachable on an optical system 10. Especially, the reflecting surface of a plane mirror 11b constituting this direction changing unit 11 is arranged so that it is inclined 45 deg. to the major axis direction (Z-axis direction) of the incident beam and functions as a change-direction mirror. In other words, the optical axis of the laser beam L is changed by this plane mirror 11b from the X-axis direction to the Z-axis direction, the major axis direction of the beam is converted from the Z-axis direction to the X-axis direction, and finally the major axis direction of the beam irradiating the work 8 is made to coincide with the welding direction. |
