PRODUCTION OF BONDED COMPOSITE OF THERMOPLASTIC BLOCK COPOLYMER WITH RUBBER

PURPOSE:To produce a bonded composite of a styrene-based thermoplastic block copolymer resin (SEBS) with a vulcanized rubber and thus enable the vulcanized rubber to have excellent physical properties of SEBS by enabling the adhesion of SEBS to the vulcanized rubber. CONSTITUTION:This bonded composite is produced by laminating a styrene- based thermoplastic block copolymer resin (SEBS) to an unvulcanized rubber compsn. contg. a raw rubber having a critical surface tension gammac of 27-35mN/m with an ultrahigh-mol.-wt. polyethylene sheet (made by skiving) sandwiched between the resin and the rubber compsn. and heating the resulting laminate to the vulcanization temp. of the rubber compsn. to cause bonding between these materials. The composite may be produced by laminating the rubber compsn. to the polyethylene sheet, bonding them to each other by heating to the vulcanization temp. of the rubber compsn., placing the resin on the side of the polyethylene sheet of the laminate, and heating to bond them to each other by fusion.
