PURPOSE:To obtain the subject medicine suitable as a product for oral cavity such as food, gum, mouth washing solution, dentifrice, effective for preventing and treating periodontal disease, having inhibitory activity against collagenase derived from human, comprising essence of Schizonepeta-Herb or essence of Mentha-Herb as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:Schizonepeta-Herb is cut and mixed with water, heated, extracted at 100 deg.C for one hours under reflux, the extracted solution is filtered, concentrated under reduced pressure and freeze-dried to prepare dried essence powder of Schizonepeta-Herb or cut Mentha-Herb is extracted, filtered, concentrated under reduced pressure and freeze-dried by the same operation to give dried essence powder of Mentha-Herb. The dried essence powder of Schizonepeta-Herb or Mentha-Herb is blended with polyethylene glycol, silicic anhydride, magnesium stearate, talc, hydroxypropyl cellulose, mannitol, etc., and pharmaceutically manufactured to give the objective collagenase activity inhibitor useful as troche, having inhibitory activity against human-derived collagenase, being expected to prevent and treat periodontal disease. |
