PURPOSE: To make a press-fit hinge cup to be anchored highly reliably to a furniture portion even when the portion is made of a weak or soft material and is not suitable for anchoring the cup. CONSTITUTION: A hinge cup 1 is anchored to a furniture portion 2. An anchoring means is composed of a plurality of tabs 8, 9, 10, and 12 which are radially outwardly protruded from the side wall section 7 of the cup 1 into the material of the peripheral wall of the recessed section of the portion 2. In order to avoid the excessive weakening of the material of the peripheral wall of the portion 2 and to ensure the fitting of the cup 1 in the portion 2, the upper edges of the tabs 8, 9, 10, and 12 are arranged at different distances from the base of the cup 1 and the tabs 8, 9, 10, and 12 engage in the peripheral wall of the portion 2 along different contour lines in the recess section. The cup is also provided with additional splay tabs 14 which are made of slits positioned substantially perpendicularly to the cup 1 and pressed outwardly into the peripheral wall of the recessed section to provide an additional resistance to the twisting of the cup 1 in the recessed section. |
