PURPOSE:To provide a process for growing a lithium niobate single crystal free from subgrain or containing extremely little subgrain. CONSTITUTION:A lithium niobate single crystal is grown in the direction of the c-axis. The average temperature gradient between a standard point and the level of a pull-up line 5/4D above the standard is adjusted to 15-20 deg.C/cm, where D is diameter of the growing single crystal in the direction of the a-axis and the standard point is the center of the molten liquid surface of the raw material melted in a crucible. |
