An aqueous coating suspension for a fluorescent lamp comprising particles of an alkaline earth chlorofluorophosphor activated by antimony and manganese, characterised in that the coating further comprises ammonium chloride. Preferably the coating includes at least one water soluble binder, a defoaming agent, a surface active agent and a sufficient amount of ammonium chloride for improving lamp maintenance.
