PURPOSE:To measure a bioelectric phenomenon with high accuracy over a long period of time by constituting the electrode for living bodies of a conductive high-polymer gel formed by incorporating water and a polyhydric alcohol as essential components into a crosslinked polyacrylamide high polymer and incorporating an electrolyte salt therein and an electrode element. CONSTITUTION:This electrode 6 for the living bodies consists of the conductive high-polymer gel 11 formed by polymerizing and crosslinking a monomer compd. liquid of an acrylamide system by a polymn. initiator and the electrode element 3 which consists of, for example, Ag/AgCl or carbon and is electrically bonded to the living body via the conductive high-polymer gel 1. The monomer compd. liquid contains at least an acrylamide monomer, a crosslinkable monomer of a copolymn. type of an acrylamide system, the electrolyte neutral salts, a wetting agent and water and the polyhydric alcohol is used as the wetting agent in the case the conductive high-polymer gel 1 having a degraded drying property is to be obtd.
