PURPOSE:To fill a long recording head with ink without leaving any bubble by producing an ink flow circulating from an ink tank through a lower ink channel, each pressure chamber, and an upper ink channel to the ink tank. CONSTITUTION:An ink jet line head 1 comprises upper and lower ink channels 46, 47 extending horizontally while communicating with a pressure generating chamber 34, respectively, at the upper and lower ends thereof with ink flow-in ports 66-69 being provided at the opposite ends thereof, and a plurality of pressure generating elements 48 which impart pressure variation for flying ink droplet to the pressure generating chamber 34. The ink jet line head 1 is further provided with an ink flow generating means comprising an ink tank 80 coupled through conduits 71-74 with the flow-in ports 66-69, pumps P1, P2 coupled with the conduits 71-74 for feeding ink from the ink tank 80 through the channel 47, each pressure generating chamber 34 and the channel 46 thence discharging the ink to the ink tank 80, and solenoid valves V1, V2. |
