<p>A retractable device for raising and lowering a cover over a two or three dimensional space, comprising a translationally driven chain (11) which stays rigid at least when subjected to thrust and has one end connected to a leading beam (4); a series of members (30) providing a temporary mutual connection between the chain and the cover and being spread out along the cover in the raised position thereof; and a system (42, 65) for disconnecting the cover from the chain at least in the lowering direction as it reaches the stowage unit so that the cover may be stowed away in the unit separately from the chain, and the equipment may be fully retracted from the space (2) to be protected by the cover.</p> |
