The connector consists of a metal ring (2) incorporating a longitudinal slot, part of which is shaped as a clip (9) which cooperates with a portion of the clarinet body. The clip includes a pair of shallow longitudinal grooves (10) which fit closely over the edges of the reed (12).The grooves are shaped and dimensioned such that they contact approximately the full length of the reed. The clip portion of the ring is internally curved and shaped to receive a layer of padding material (11) to press against the reed.
