The invention relates to a tray which is made from polystyrene foam and is used to hold meat, fish or similar foods. The tray is provided with a base and with side walls which adjoin the periphery of the base and run upwards from the base. Openings which extend through the base and on the underside of the tray are covered by a film (foil) which is attached to the tray and is impermeable to liquid, are arranged in the base. Recesses which adjoin these openings are arranged at least at a number of openings in the underside of the tray.
