Process for producing new 2-aminoindan-2-phosphonic acid with formula 1, characterised in that the acetamide and then indan-2 with formula 2 are added to the prepared earlier solution of acetyl chloride and phosphorus trichloride in glacial acetic acid, the whole mixture is stirred initially in room temperature and then in temperature of 313 to 363 K, until monophase mixture is obtained, subsequently the volatile ingredients are removed from the mixture and the residue is hydrolysed with hydrochloric acid for 6 to 18 hours in boiling temperature, then the tar product content is removed, while hydrochloric acid soluble residue is decolourised.<IMAGE>
