The invention concerns a frame construction for windows or similar, comprising a frame-type inner part formed of elongate parts 1 arranged to delimit a window opening or similar, and an outer part formed of elongate pieces 2 fixed in the front side of the inner part, at least in the inner part's horizontal upper part and vertical side parts, which covers the gap between the frame and window arch set into the window opening. In order to reinforce the connection between the outer and inner parts, an essentially cross-sectional hook-shaped gripping member 3 has been made in the surface of each elongate piece 2, forming the frame's outer part, which faces the inner part. In the edge of the frame's corresponding elongate part 1, which delimits the window opening or similar, a rebate 5 has been arranged which matches the hook-shaped gripping member 3, so that when the hook-shaped member 3 and the rebate 5 engage with each other, and the elongate piece 2 is shifted towards the front surface of the elongate part 1 which forms the respective frame, the said members 3, 5 will lock each elongate piece 2 of the outer part to the respective elongate piece 1 in the inner part at the edge of the frame's window opening. <IMAGE>
