Composite plastic and copper tubing

The composite material of a plastic tube and a copper tube is produced from a strip material whose longitudinal edges are then bonded together. The plastic tube is stable but not resistant to oxygen; it is the inner liner; the outer copper covering is bonded on to it and has overlapping edges which are bonded together by solder.The figure shows an example in which the innermost layer (16) is a polypropylene random copolymer or crosslinked polyethylene or a standard type, and the outermost layer (20) is the same and is e.g. transparent.
