Carrier pigeon heartbeat monitor consists of microphone (1) installed in each enclosure of pigeon carrier box (5). Microphone is attached to amplifier (3). Several amplifiers are connected to multiplexer (4) then to monitoring PC.General measurement programme in PC monitors heart rate for end enclosure over long intervals. The resulting heart rate is a measure of physical condition. The microphone/sensor may be incorporated in a perch and be fitted with a heater element.
