Contacts, especially for insertion in chip sockets, are produced from readily available, cost-effective contact wire. The contact wire is pushed so far through the contact bushing openings in the socket body that the freely projecting ends can be gripped by forming tools. Thereafter, the wire is pulled back again, the contact is cut off from the wire and the outer contact is formed using pressing (stamping) tools. As a result of suitable forming, the contact is secured against being pushed out or pushed in during insertion of the chip before populating or during populating of the printed-circuit board. <IMAGE> |
